Enhanced Core:
- Solid Foundation: The June 2024 release boasts an upgraded base operating system, ensuring a more secure and reliable foundation for your containerized workloads.
- Choice in Container Engines: Docker continues to be a mainstay, and Podman is now included, offering users an additional container engine option for increased flexibility in their development workflows.
- Simplified Kubernetes Management: Minikube integration streamlines Kubernetes management directly within the OS, eliminating the need for separate installations.
Streamlined Infrastructure as Code:
Vagrant is no longer included by default. However, we’ve introduced OpenTofu, an open-source alternative to Terraform. This powerful tool allows users to define, preview, and apply infrastructure changes across multiple cloud providers using a declarative language. Learn more about OpenTofu at OpenTofu.
Intuitive System Management:
Cockpit provides a user-friendly web interface for managing your system. To further optimize release and deployment workflows, consider installing Portainer (run sudo sh /opt/portainer.sh) or Dyrector.io (not included in this release).
